The Ball is a geodesic sphere, 12 feet in diameter and weighing 11,875 pounds, built to withstand the stresses of high winds, precipitation and temperature fluctuation. The 2,688 crystal triangles are bolted to 672 LED modules which are attached to the aluminum frame of the Ball. The Ball is illuminated by 32,256 Philips Luxeon Rebel LEDs (light emitting diodes). Each LED module contains 48 Philips LEDs – 12 red, 12 blue, 12 green, and 12 white for a total of 8,064 of each color. By mixing these four colors, the Ball is capable of creating a palette of more than 16 million vibrant colors and billions of patterns producing a spectacular kaleidoscope effect atop One Times Square.

The National Retail Federation estimates that holiday gift returns will total a record $46.3 billion this year, up 4 percent from last year and 10 percent from two years ago.An ugly sweater. A book you have no in interest in. A leg lamp. Whatever unwanted item you've been gifted this year you're in luck because you don't have to keep it–for the most part. While many people do not look forward to visiting retail shops the day after Christmas, millions across America are expected to do so as they return gifts that did not meet expectations. Experts ask consumers to be ready.

Credit Talk USA Live - Christmas retailers slashing prices. What are you buying ??

Since the Christmas holiday shopping season is the most important time on the retail sales calendar, retail industry professionals, investors, and analysts are obsessed with doing research and making predictions about how consumers will shop and behave. In a year of economic uncertainty, interest in Christmas holiday spending, shopping, buying, and retail sales predictions was particularly strong in 2011.
High street retailers have been facing stormy weather all year and retail experts predict the industry's worst Christmas since the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008 as low confidence levels dent festive spending. There were fresh signs of distress from the high street this week as the company behind Barratts shoe shops collapsed into administration putting more than 4,000 jobs at risk.
This is the biggest shopping weekend of the year and will be make or break time for many retailers who make the lion's share of their profits in the month before Christmas.

Credit Talk USA Live - Apple opens new store the 5th in NYC

Just when you thought apple could not do anything better. They do this today they open at Grand Central Terminal is about to become a high-tech hub.
Apple is opening its fifth Manhattan store in the bustling midtown landmark on Friday, aiming to capture commuters’ dollars.“It’s going to be fabulous,” said Connecticut stay-at-home mom Cathy Landy, 38, whose husband travels to the station daily for work. “We don’t have to come to a shop often, but it’s nice to have it be so convenient.”But don’t look for a giant glass cube.
Apple toned down its sleek design aesthetic to conform to the 140-year-old train station’s landmark status.
The white Apple logo adorns just a few spots along the east balcony, where the store sprawls out over 23,000 square feet, stretching out along the northeast side. It will be one of the retailer’s largest shops.
Much of the store, dotted with Apple’s simple, white tables, is open to the building’s iconic star-studded dome and looks out over the busy main concourse.

The store opens at 10 a.m. Friday.

Credit Talk USA Live - Trouble for Sarah Palin

After loosing the vice President nod a few years ago Sarah Palin has been in the public eye so much. Even considering running for the highest office in the land President of Untied States. Now nearly a year after she quit her governorship of Alaska, Sarah Palin was found guilty today of another breach of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act involving her so-called Alaska Fund Trust (AFT), which she established as a private "legal defense fund" while governor.
Timothy Petumenos, independent counsel for the Alaska Personnel Board (and ironically, the same independent counsel who issued the Troopergate findings nearly two years ago while Palin was the GOP vice-presidential nominee), presented the state's Findings, Consent Decree and Settlement Agreement this afternoon from the perfectly named Adventure Room of the Captain Cook Hotel in downtown Anchorage.

Credit Talk USA Live - Over 434 billion paid in unemployment benefits

Jobless Americans have collected $434 billion in unemployment benefits over the past four years.
Taxpayers have footed $184.7 billion of the tab incurred during the federal government's unparalleled response to the Great Recession, according to Labor Department data. State and federal taxes on employers cover the rest.
The cost of continuing this safety net will be the subject of intense debate in Congress in coming weeks as lawmakers decide whether to extend the deadline to file for federal benefits beyond year's end. Keeping this lifeline in place through 2012 would cost $44 billion.
Here's how the system works: The jobless collect up to 26 weeks of state benefits before shifting to the federal program. Federal benefits consist of up to 53 weeks of emergency compensation, which is divided into four tiers, and up to another 20 weeks of extended benefits.
Those who reach the end of their state benefits or federal tier will not be able to apply for additional benefits unless the deadline to file is extended.

Credit Talk USA Live - They knew about mortgage meltdown coming and ignored the signs

They knew and did nothing but sit back and keep taking a salary and big bonuses.
Two whistleblowers offer a rare window into the root causes of the subprime mortgage meltdown. Eileen Foster, a former senior executive at Countrywide Financial, and Richard Bowen, a former vice president at Citigroup, tell Steve Kroft the companies ignored their repeated warnings about defective, even fraudulent mortgages. The result, experts say, was a cascading wave of mortgage defaults for which virtually no high-ranking Wall Street executives have been prosecuted.

The following is a script of "Prosecuting Wall Street" which aired on Dec. 4, 2011. Steve Kroft is correspondent, James Jacoby, producer.
It's been three years since the financial crisis crippled the American economy, and much to the consternation of the general public and the demonstrators on Wall Street, there has not been a single prosecution of a high-ranking Wall Street executive or major financial firm even though fraud and financial misrepresentations played a significant role in the meltdown. We wanted to know why, so nine months ago we began looking for cases that might have prosecutorial merit. Tonight you'll hear about two of them. We begin with a woman named Eileen Foster, a senior executive at Countrywide Financial, one of the epicenters of the crisis

Credit Talk USA Live - Gas prices getting better??

I don't think gas prices are dropping in LA and other big cities but that being said I am glad to see them dropping anywhere.
Gas prices have fallen over the past two weeks, continuing their slide despite an increase in crude oil prices, according to a survey published Sunday.
The average price of regular gasoline is $3.29 a gallon, the Lundberg Survey found.
That's down 9 cents from two weeks earlier, and down a total of 18 cents over the past six weeks, said publisher Trilby Lundberg.
While crude oil prices rose $3.55 a barrel over the past two weeks, gas prices fell due to "shrinkage in the profit margins of the downstream portion of the oil industry -- that is, refiners and retailers," Lundberg said. "They were unable to pass through the higher oil prices because American motorists' demand for gasoline continues to shrink due to hard economic conditions."
However, it's unlikely prices will continue to fall, Lundberg said., because refiners and retailers "will not be able to sustain losses on and on."
"It will all depend on what crude oil does," she added.
The latest average gas price is 38 cents higher than it was a year ago.
The Lundberg Survey tallies prices at thousands of gas stations nationwide.
The city with the lowest average price in the latest survey was Albuquerque, New Mexico, at $2.84. The highest average was in San Francisco, at $3.67.
Here are average prices in some other cities:
-Charleston, South Carolina - $3.08
-Houston - $3.09
-Atlanta - $3.22
-Denver - $3.23
-Boston - $3.39
-Chicago - $3.48
-Seattle - $3.56
-Tucson, Arizona - $3.04

Credit Talk USA Live - More changes for postal service

They have been talking about this for awhile and now it seems that the mail is even going to get slower. I guess if they are losing so much money you have to do something..

Unprecedented cuts by the cash-strapped U.S. Postal Service will slow first-class delivery next spring and, for the first time in 40 years, eliminate the chance for stamped letters to arrive the next day.
The estimated $3 billion in reductions, to be announced in broader detail later Monday, are part of a wide-ranging effort by the Postal Service to quickly trim costs and avert bankruptcy. They could slow everything from check payments to Netflix's DVDs-by-mail, add costs to mail-order prescription drugs, and threaten the existence of newspapers and time-sensitive magazines delivered by postal carrier to far-flung suburban and rural communities.
That birthday card mailed first-class to Mom also could arrive a day or two late, if people don't plan ahead.
"It's a potentially major change, but I don't think consumers are focused on it and it won't register until the service goes away," said Jim Corridore, analyst with S&P Capital IQ, who tracks the shipping industry. "Over time, to the extent the customer service experience gets worse, it will only increase the shift away from mail to alternatives. There's almost nothing you can't do online that you can do by mail."

Credit Talk USA Live - Airlines to raise prices

http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/travel/airlines-are-trying-to-raise-prices-again-on-many-routes-impact-blunted-by-frequent-sales/2011/12/02/gIQA6LVXLO_story.html

Thought you might like to know this is pretty interesting with the financial problems airlines are having didn't American Airlines file for bankruptcy?
Major U.S. airlines are again trying to raise prices on many domestic flights.
Delta Air Lines Inc. confirmed Friday that it had raised fares to Florida, Phoenix and Las Vegas by up to $10 per round trip.JetBlue Airways Corp. said that it raised fares on many U.S. routes by $6 per round trip, and US Airways Group Inc. said it matched JetBlue.
The fare hikes indicated that airlines are still seeing strong demand for travel despite the weak economy.
J.P. Morgan analyst Jamie Baker, who tracks airline prices closely, said a successful fare increase would help airline stocks, which have risen since American Airlines parent AMR Corp. filed for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday. Investors are betting that American will reduce flying, adding to revenue and profit at other airlines.
Airlines have imposed about 10 broad fare increases this year, but an equal number have failed because some carriers declined to go along with higher prices.

Credit Talk USA Live - No foreclosures for the holidays

Some banks stopping foreclosures for the holidays in hopes of making some struggling homeowners a nice Christmas present.  Here is what they say Happy holidays struggling homeowners! Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and several large mortgage lenders have pledged not to foreclose on delinquent borrowers during the Christmas season.
For homeowners with loans through Fannie Mae (FNMA, Fortune 500) and Freddie Mac (FMCC, Fortune 500), the moratorium will run from Dec. 19 to Jan. 2. During this time, legal and administrative proceedings for evictions may continue, but families will be allowed to stay in their homes, Fannie said in a statement.
"No family should have to give up their home during this holiday season," said Terry Edwards, an executive vice president for Fannie Mae.
Among some of the major banks that offer mortgage loans, Chase (JPM, Fortune 500) Mortgage said it will not evict anyone between Dec. 22 and Jan. 2. Wells Fargo (WFC, Fortune 500) will also suspend evictions during that period, but will not shut down its eviction machinery entirely.
The bank said it will observe the moratorium on foreclosed properties in its own portfolio but for loans it services for other lenders "foreclosure-related actions may still occur."

No family should have to give up their home during this holiday season," said Terry Edwards, ... which could mean moving forward with certain foreclosures. ...

Credit Talk USA Live - Republican strategis about Ocuupy movement

I have to say I am a little worried since republicans seem to not have a clue so now they are making things up as they go. Wait that is what they always do sit back and copy someone else.  So am I shocked and answer to that is NO.  Here are a few things that are being said..
I'm so scared of this anti-Wall Street effort. I'm frightened to death," said Frank Luntz, a Republican strategist and one of the nation's foremost experts on crafting the perfect political message. "They're having an impact on what the American people think of capitalism."
This is what Luntz told attendees during a session at this week's Republican Governors Assocation meeting. Yahoo's Chris Moody sat in on Luntz's chat, in which he "offered tips on how Republicans could discuss the grievances of the Occupiers, and help the governors better handle all these new questions from constituents about 'income inequality' and 'paying your fair share.'" Notebooks out, everyone. Frank Luntz is going to teach us how to deal with hippie talk!
First: In order to save capitalism, you must stop using the word "capitalism." No one likes it anymore! Say "markets" or whatever instead:
"I'm trying to get that word removed and we're replacing it with either 'economic freedom' or 'free market,' " Luntz said. "The public . . . still prefers capitalism to socialism, but they think capitalism is immoral. And if we're seen as defenders of quote, Wall Street, end quote, we've got a problem."
Next: Never say you oppose taxing the rich. The public likes taxing the rich. The solution, when presented with this topic, is to use entirely different words and trick people:

Credit Talk USA Live - Europe is in trouble. The US responsibility?

Is this going to be another bailout? Is it the US responsibility to help them or do we for once take care of our own country.  Europe is hurting for cash, and central banks around the world are stepping in to give it a boost.
The Federal Reserve, along with five other central banks, acted Wednesday to make it cheaper for banks around the world to borrow U.S. dollars -- a staple of global financial transactions.
It's a big move, meant to not only lower the cost of short-term borrowing for troubled European banks, but also keep the global economy free and clear of an all-out credit crunch as in 2008.
"The euro debt crisis is coming to a head after two-plus years of dragging and hand wringing, and I think what these central banks are trying to do is send a signal to markets that there isn't going to be a huge liquidity crunch like there was in fall 2008," said Cornelius Hurley, a Boston University professor and former counsel to the Fed Board of Governors.
Indeed, world stock markets surged on the news, pushing the Dow (INDU) back into positive territory for the year. But what does it all mean.  What I want to know is how much of this is hype is the media normally does.

Credit Talk USA Live - Americans to forfeit Billions in vacation days

Lets be frank you should know how many vacation days you have period.  Don't let your company do this to you but you and only you are going to look out for yourself. There's still a month to go before the end of the year, but most Americans will let their last remaining vacation days go unused. The average American worker earned 14 vacation days this year but will only take 12 of them, according to a survey by Expedia. That's about the same number of days they left on the table last year.
unused. The average American worker earned 14 vacation days this year but will only take 12 of them, according to a survey by Expedia. That's about the same number of days they left on the table last year.
While two forfeited days of vacation may not seem like a lot, it can really add up. Altogether, Americans are giving up 226 million unused vacation days this year. Considering that, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average full-time worker earns $39,416 a year -- that's $34.3 billion worth of time.
The reason most workers say they chose to slave away at work rather than relax on a beach, is that they could not afford to travel, Expedia said. "Lack of planning" was the second-most-cited excuse among those surveyed.  Reports are saying that people are traveling less but don't believe the hype planes are fuller now days than ever before.

Credit Talk USA Live - Your heating bills could start to go up..

In place like New Your City or even Texas it is going to be a brutal  winter in allot of ways Bill McLaughlin is bracing himself for a tough winter. He and his wife, Cindy, live in Brewer, Maine and neither of them are working. Bill, who's 59, is disabled and Cindy lost her job more than a year ago. And now the cold is setting in. During any winter in Maine, paying for the oil that heats their home is a big expense. But this winter, it will be especially taxing. The price of heating the average home with oil is expected to jump 10% this year to an average of $2,535 over the winter heating season (October 1 through March 31), according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). That's 45% higher than just two years ago, when the average bill was just $1,752.  So all over it would seem people could be in trouble with higher bills.  Ven while keeping the thermostat low, the McLaughlins burn about 750 gallons of oil a year. At about $3.50 a gallon, that's more than $2,600 "We're in a real bind; There's no safety net," said Bill. "We've run through all our savings and if we pay for heat, we have less money for food and medicine. We don't even have our car out on the road. My wife depends on friends when she has to go someplace." Are you someone that is ready and have a plan in place?

Credit Talk USA Live - Stocks close highest since 5-2009

Here is my question the media is screaming how bad everything is but black Friday was a record high with spending and now today. What is really going on we a discuss this and more tomm at 1pm on Credit talk USA worldwide LIVE.  www.credittalkusa.com
Around the world raced to scoop up stocks on Wednesday, after the Federal Reserve said it will work with other central banks to support the global economy.
All three major stock indexes closed the day up more than 4%. The Dow's 489-point gain is the largest of 2011 and the best percentage gain since March 2009. Still, despite today's run-up, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 are down for the year.
The central banks' coordinated market intervention gave investors hope that world leaders could take necessary steps to avoid a credit crunch or market paralysis stemming from Europe's sovereign debt crisis.

Credit Talk USA Live - IRS holding Millions in dollors in refunds!!!!

There are millions of people that will need their money but they maybe out of luck as they seem to have wrong addresses on file.  The Internal Revenue Service is holding onto tens of millions of dollars in tax refunds that it hasn't been able to deliver to consumers.
A total of 99,123 taxpayers are still owed refunds this year but haven't received them due to mailing address errors, the IRS said. That amounts to a total of $153.3 million in unclaimed refunds.

I am very disappointed in the mayor of LA.  Police in riot gear and biohazard suits removed anti-Wall Street activists from an encampment outside the Los Angeles City Hall on Wednesday, arresting an estimated 200 people.
The Los Angeles encampment, which officials had tolerated for weeks even as other cities moved in to clear out similar compounds, was among the largest on the West Coast aligned with a 2-month-old Occupy Wall Street movement against economic inequality and alleged excesses of the U.S. financial system.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa had originally welcomed the protesters, even supplying them with ponchos for inclement weather. But as city officials complained of crime, sanitation problems and property damage they blamed on the camp, the mayor decided the group had to go.

These people play god and you pay the price..Standard and Poor's downgraded the credit ratings of 15 banks Tuesday, after applying new criteria to the world's 37 largest banks.
Among those to suffer a ratings cut: Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs (GS, Fortune 500), Morgan Stanley (MS, Fortune 500), Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase (JPM, Fortune 500).
Ratings of Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500), Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley dropped one notch to A- from A. S&P maintained a "negative" outlook on those companies. JPMorgan Chase's rating was revised a step lower to A from A+, but the bank still boasts a "stable" outlook.

overall debt is declining, the number of people who are failing to keep up with their payments rose in the third quarter. The delinquency rate stood at 10% in the end of September, up from 9.8% in June. About $1.2 trillion of consumer debt is currently delinquent, according to the report.

Credit Talk USA Live - DOJ looking at banks about debit card fees

The recent attempt by some of the nation's largest banks to impose new fees on debit card use has caught the attention of the Justice Department. The department, in a letter to Rep. Peter Welch, a Vermont Democrat, says the efforts by banks to impose the fees is under review for possible antitrust violations.
Please be assured that if it finds that individuals, banks, or other parties may have violated the antitrust laws, the Department will take appropriate action," Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote in the letter released by Welch's office Tuesday.
According to the letter, Welch contacted Attorney General Eric Holder in October, expressing concern that several banking trade associations and banks -- including Wells Fargo (WFC, Fortune 500) and Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500) -- might be violating antitrust laws in response to new regulatory legislation.

Earlier than ever store openings and steep discounts helped retailers notch record sales this Black Friday weekend, according to early reports.

Credit Talk USA Live - The New Penny

When the United States Mint was created in 1792, one of the first coins it made the following year was the one-cent coin, and it looked very different from the modern version. The image on the first cent was of a lady with flowing hair, who symbolized liberty. The coin was larger and made of pure copper, while today's smaller cent is made of copper and zinc.
In 1857, Congress authorized the United States Mint to strike the cent with 88 percent copper and 12 percent nickel. The "shape and size" would be determined by the United States Mint Director, with the approval of the Treasury Secretary. The new cents showed a flying eagle on the front and a wreath on the back. The act of February 21, 1857, also mandated that people could no longer use coins from other countries, a practice that had been necessary because of a lack of domestic coinage.

Credit Talk USA Live - Black Friday hits record..

Preliminary reports for Black Friday indicate that retailers may have seen their strongest sales ever during the all-important kick-off to the holiday shopping season.
Retail sales on Black Friday climbed 6.6% this year to an estimated $11.4 billion, according to ShopperTrak, which tracks foot traffic at malls and stores. Last year, sales climbed just 0.3% to $10.7 billion, which was a record one-day sales amount at the time, according to the company.
